New Works by Antonio Santin

Playing with the idea of vulnerability, Berlin-based artist Antonio Santin paints delicate female figures prostrate in mysterious rooms that a exude a spooky ambience worthy of a seance. We first introduced Antonio Santin's haunting portraits in Hi-Fructose Vol. 18, and this year the artist has been working on new paintings that use subtle, suggestive shadows and elaborate textures to convey the human form. His new paintings are executed in a mellow color palette of beiges and browns; a low light source creates dramatic shadows that emphasize the voluptuous forms.
