The Art of Alain Delorme

by Nastia VoynovskayaPosted on

French photographer Alain Delorme defies physics with his “Totems” series, a body of works that comments on the material excess of globalized societies. Inspired by the men on bicycles toting impossible mounds of objects he witnessed in Shanghai, Delorme creates colorful, stylized works that play with our notion of photography as an objective medium. The scenes appear realistic yet dreamlike — the supersaturated color compositions and meticulous arrangements of flowers, tires and furniture on wheels make us wonder whether what we see before us could be a reflection of reality on the other side of the planet.
