Curated by artist Tara McPherson and gallery director Alexandra Mazzanti, the new group show “Greenblood” (which we previewed here) at Rome’s Dorothy Circus Gallery unites many renowned American, European and Japanese pop surrealists to raise awareness to humans’ destruction of nature. The title “Greenblood” is an apt one, as many of the works attempt to access a deeper notion of the lifeblood, or the spiritual side, of nature.

White Jeff Soto and Corine Perier’s pieces speak to the relentless power of the circle of life, other artists such as Afan and Alessia Iannetti create a vision of human characters coexisting harmoniously with their natural surroundings. The opening night on June 14th attracted the who’s who of Rome (some Italian celebrities like veteran actor Orso Maria Guerrini were in attendance), which is always a good thing when the proceeds from the show go to the charities Greenpeace and Oceana.
