Caitlin Hackett’s piece in progress
As the sprawl of human civilization and its many necessities continues to squeeze wild animals out of their habitats, it can be hard to know how to have a positive impact on the situation when we are so sheltered from the natural world. To bring this issue to the forefront of the art public’s minds, Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City has partnered with the animal advocacy non-profit Born Free USA for their new group show, “Wild at Heart: Keep Wildlife in the Wild.” The show will feature over 100 artists of various nationalities and disciplines, from street artists like Know Hope and Shark Toof to pop surrealist painters like Mari Inukai and Caitlin Hackett. Other notable artists include Amy Sol, Ana Bagayan, Yosuke Ueno, Mary Iverson and Joao Ruas (Vol. 23). To raise funds for Born Free USA’s mission to protect wild animals as well as their shelter for rescued primates, Thinkspace will donate 20% of the sales from the show to the organization. Take a look our sneak peek of the show and make sure to stop by the opening this Saturday night.
