This year’s ArtPadSF was a visual feast, with rising and well-established galleries eager to share the works of their most outstanding artists as well as their new proteges. It was a remarkable opportunity to see old favorites like Swoon and Bob Dob and discover new art crushes like Matt Momchilov. And of course, many of the artists were in attendance to chat with the public about their work. The Phoenix Hotel provided the perfect casual atmosphere, allowing each exhibiting gallery to convert one of the hotels many small rooms into a home for their art.

As visitors walked around the sunny patio, they could pay each gallery a visit or just catch a glimpse of the work through the large windows. Many artists utilized the closet and bathroom spaces for fun installations, most notably the Sid and Nancy murder crime scene lovingly created by macabre photographers Ransom & Mitchell in Varnish Fine Art’s bathroom and The Date Farmers’ closet shrine at New Image Art. Take a look at some photos from last weekend.
