Varnish Fine Art at ArtPadSF this Weekend

In addition to the exciting line-up of galleries we mentioned in our preview of ArtPadSF and ArtMRKT, San Francisco gallery Varnish Fine Art will be exhibiting some of our favorite artists at ArtPadSF. JennyBird Alcantara (who appeared in the very first issue of Hi-Fructose) will be showing her Candy Land-esque paintings of wounded mythical creatures. The thugged-out woodland animals of Isabel Samaras (Vol. 20) will also make an appearance. Read more after the jump!

Alcantara and Samaras’ fun, fairy tale-inspired works will be offset by Chris Mars (Vol. 7), Mike Davis and Ransom & Mitchell’s darker paintings that engage with haunting imagery culled from the Renaissance. Jessica Joslin’s whimsical sculptures and Chuck Sperry’s color-saturated paintings of patterned Grecian beauties will also be joining the party. Make sure to stop by Varnish Fine Art’s booth at ArtPadSF May 17-20.

Artist and animation director Joe Vaux paints what he likes. His personal work is teeming with impish demons.
