Yosuke Ueno: The Specific Illusion

This will be the 3rd solo exhibition for Yosuke Ueno at Thinkspace Gallery. Yosuke is known for his imaginative, energy filled paintings which burst with symbolism. Yosuke is very thoughtful when considering where his art comes from, he aspires to have the work reach beyond his own imagination when it is finished. Yosuke states that, “Scientists have no way of knowing the result of an experiment beforehand. The same can be said about creating art.”

The upcoming exhibition is called The Specific Illusion, the focus in this work is the impact of the earthquake and tsunami of last year in Japan. “Everyone in Japan now distinguish their lives as before 3/11 and after 3/11. I remember well staring at blank canvases, trembling with great fear remembering those days. The quake has brought a specific shape to my art that have had some obscure illusions. In other words, The Specific Illusion is a special exhibit where I express my experiences “after 3/11” from various aspects of my life.” – Yosuke Ueno

Reception with the artists is Saturday, March 31st, 5-8PM. The exhibit is on view March 31st through April 21st.
