Christopher Henry Gallery 2010-2011

New York-based artist Olek’s first UK solo exhibition, “I do not expect to be a mother but I do expect to die alone” is currently on view at Tony’s Gallery in London. Olek uses acrylic yarn as her primary medium and specializes in covering select items, rooms, and sculptures in crochet. You may recall she transformed the Wall Street Bull, also known as Project B, in 2010. The way that she initiates a dialogue between the environment and the viewer has a performative quality. This installation is a unique opportunity to see a wall to wall gallery transformation. The gallery and the artist’s domestic objects that fill the space are completely covered in crochet. The exhibition dates are 27 January through 23 March 2012.
