Oliver Vernon’s ‘Tilt’

by JL SchnabelPosted on

Opening this evening at Denver’s David B. Smith Gallery is a solo exhibition of new works from artist Oliver Vernon (Vol. 17 cover artist), aptly titled ‘Tilt.’ The new show illuminates Vernon’s signature style of spacial chaos by using a technique of layered images of landscapes, nature and detailed patterns. Using both a colorful and monochromatic palettes, the works present a kind of anxiety that only further unravels with careful studying of the many contradictory elements present in the paintings. Created intuitvely, the artists says “Painting is like chess. Each move is informed by the previous, and opens a new range of possibilities.” View more images from ‘Tilt’ below.
