Tara Mcpherson, Deedee Cheriel, Lindsey Way, & Aiko at Merry Karnowsky Gallery

Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles is currently showing new work by an impressive all-girl cast- Tara Mcpherson, Deedee CherielLindsey Way, and street artist Aiko. Although this 4-person show exhibits an extremity of styles and palettes, it finds strength in its female point of view. If there is one defining link, it is the incorporation of implied “lyrical” motifs.

Separately, each artist holds her own in her treatment of the female form. Aiko dresses her girls in brightly-colored textiles, Lindsay’s in glamorous paper costumes, and Deedee’s in the guise of animals, representing our relationship with nature. Tara Mcpherson, a clear favorite, notably exhibits portraits of an almost noir-vibe, accented with metallic texture. View more images after the jump. -Caro
