While a desolate alleyway or a blank gallery wall can be seen as an artist’s playground, the twin brother duo Skewville made a veritable theme park out of White Walls Gallery for their show “Playground Tactics.” Using industrial materials like tires, metal, piping and wire, they transformed the art space into an interactive environment. Viewers could not only gaze at the old-school-video-game-inspired paintings, but swing on tire swings, balance on a see-saw and roll to and fro on wheelchair benches. Busy and whimsical, Skewville’s two-dimensional works complemented the playful attitude of the interactive pieces.
