Opening this coming Saturday at Philadelphia’s Jinxed Gallery is a solo exhibition of new sculptures by artist Sarah Louise Davey. Featuring the mounted heads and disembodied limbs of the ceramic figures, the works explore the dichotomy of grotesque humor and beauty in the nuance of their facial expressions and poses. Often accompanied by odd pieces of hardware embedded into their hard skins, the figures hold confrontational gazes with the viewer, inviting them into a narrative, playful dialogue.
