David Ellis’ ‘True Value’

Now on view at Joshua Liner Gallery in New York is an intriguing solo show by artist David Ellis, ‘True Value.’ Long regarded as the informal founder of the Barnstomers Collective, which many view as a precursor component to the Beautiful Losers, Ellis’ command of a variety of mediums sees true light in this new exhibit. From his waveform graphics to video and sound installations, Ellis’ ability to alter and grow from his graffiti roots has caught the eyes of the PULSE prize last year and also of supercollector Charles Saatchi who purchased an installation piece similar to the “True Value” work (for which the current show is named) the year prior. Due to the multidisciplinary elements, this is one of those shows that really should be witnessed in person, however catch a look at some of our favorite pieces from the exhibit below.
