Alastair Mackie’s “Copse”

by Ken HarmanPosted on

Twenty seven pine trees stand erect, creating a pseudo forest nestled in the most unlikely of environments, a stark white gallery space. Their branches devoid of leaves suggest and impending death, and the bases of their trunks slowly metamorphosize into the table and chair legs that these trees will eventually become. Alastair Mackie‘s work has caught our eye before (see here) and his latest installation, “Copse” looks to be a highly compelling reason to revisit. The installation is currently on view at All Visual Arts in Kings Cross, London, and will be on view until December 16th.
