Art Platform joined hands last weekend with Getty’s Pacific Standard Time artinitiative and PULSE art fair, bringing galleries, dealers, and curators together underone roof at LA Mart. The site resulted in an overwhelming presentation of southernCalifornia’s most influential players in its international contemporary art scene such as Merry Karnowsky and Richard Heller Galleries.

If you got lost in the sea of hit and miss efforts by over 100 exhibitors, we hopeyou landed at Kaikai Kiki’s Hidari Zingaro. Curated by renowned artist TakashiMurakami, Hidari Zingaro’s mini-exhibition served as the official announcement oftheir five level complex dedicated to emerging Japanese artists. Hidari Zingaro islocated in Nakano Broadway’s otaku shopping arcade, where it hopes to encourageyoung art viewers and support new artists such as ob, Gemi, Keisin, mi, Rei Tanaka, and Yoshiyasu Tamura. At an average age of 18 years old and most holding theirfirst exhibitions in 2011, Hidari Zingaro’s artists aren’t perfect but a welcomebreath of fresh air- and a bold move for Tokyo. Art Platform exhibited at LA Mart,Downtown Los Angeles from October 1 – October 3, 2011. – Caro
