Morgan Slade’s “They Live by Night”

by CaroPosted on

Currently exhibiting at LeBasse Projects in Chinatown is “They Live By Night,”  Morgan Slade’s second solo exhibit with the gallery.  Popular culture had a profound influence on Slade’s youth, which he chose to explore after the birth of his own child.  Slade surrounds his painted subjects by icons like Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, and Storm Troopers, while his collage work recalls his background as a mixed media artist.  Woven into the show are unique collaboration images by Slade’s friend and respected rock photographer Norman Wonderly.  From silks screens to hand embellished 80s cassette tapes, “They Live By Night” offers a diverse body of artwork that can only achieved by individual childhood experiences.  “They Live By Night” by Morgan Slade exhibits at LeBasse Chinatown, CA from September 17 – October 22, 2011. – Caro
