‘Voices of the Lake’ New Works by Korin Faught

by Ken HarmanPosted on

On Saturday, Corey Helford Gallery launched their fall exhibition season with Korin Faught’s highly anticipated solo, “Voices of the Lake”.  Faught’s subjects emerge to the surface like modern nymphs, in this series of romantic, water-themed paintings inspired by her own personal photography.  Some ponder their own reflection, painted with strong, confident brush strokes while also recalling themes of fragility found in Victorian painting.  The infinity of these reflections is venerated by small hand-finished resin figures placed beside each artwork.  Complimenting Faught’s soft color palette is “In Sheep’s Clothing” by Joey Remmers in the upstairs loft.  Remmers’ paintings feature lost girls in serene environments, embellished with ink designs that hint to his work as a tattoo artist.  “Voices of the Lake” by Korin Faught exhibits at Corey Helford Gallery, Culver City, CA, from September 3 – 21, 2011. – Caro
