‘The Open End’ New Works by Rob Sato

by Ken HarmanPosted on

Last weekend, Los Angeles-based painter, illustrator and comic book artist Rob Sato offered his second Copro Gallery solo with “The Open End”. Rob’s new, otherworldly images convey abstract methods of transportation with a futuristic sentiment that includes eroding robots and sullen astronauts. “This show is a mix of my concept drawings, ideas, and paintings, some which took over 1 year to complete,” Rob shared with Hi-fructose at the opening. His effort shows in the tremendous amount of detail and impressive use of the watercolor and acrylic mixed medium. The surrealism of each artwork sucks you into what Rob calls an open end, neither here nor there. “The Open End” by Rob Sato exhibits at Copro Gallery, Santa Monica CA, from August 13 – September 3, 2011. – Caro
