While many artists play with the concept of animal-human hybrids in their work, Lusesita has conjured up a new species. Her sculptures marry the most soft and delicate attributes of both man and beast, creating plush and ceramic creatures that brim with whimsy and wonder. Incorporating threads and fabrics, Lusesita’s sculpture style imitates natural forms– her curvy animals with women’s faces evoke a variety of organic shapes, from plants to antlers. Lusesita took Nastia Voynovskaya into her Barcelona studio, where stacks of antique toys, found objects and recycled materials line the shelves, providing the artist with inspiration for her mixed-media works.
