When we last saw noted tattoo and fine artist Shawn Barber last year (seen here), we couldn’t help but notice that amongst the highly rendered portraits and tattoo still lifes an apparent lack of works from his ‘Doll Series.’ Begun in 2003, the studies of dismembered doll heads and parts predates his more recognizable ‘Tattooed Portraits’ series, their shocking and eerie subject matter have gained him much acclaim and we’re glad to see a return to the motif in Barber’s next solo show, ‘Youth of Today.’ Hi-Fructose has acquired an extensive preview of the new works, get a look before the show opens this Friday, July 8th at FFDG in San Francisco.
