The Mosh Pit Paintings of Dan Witz

by Ken HarmanPosted on

The last time we saw artist Dan Witz, he was creating a variety of cutting edge street art throughout San Francisco (seen here). For his second solo showing of the year, Witz shows his broad range of talent by exploring the medium of oil paints and the subject matter of mosh pits, both human and otherwise. The artist’s subjects, which vary from punk rockers to rat kings, are intertwined with each other in spontaneous bouts of animalistic energy, writhing and pulsating in a fluid and photorealistic depiction. Get a preview of his new show, ‘Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise’ which opens tonight, June 30th at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC, here on Hi-Fructose.

As an added bonus, Witz will be showing alongside painter Brett Amory, who we’ll be featuring extensively in our new issue, hitting newstands soon (preview here)
