Now on view at Ratio 3 in San Francisco is an impressive, if not historic, exhibition of works by the late Margaret Kilgallen. A catalyst of the artist movement commonly referred to as the “Mission School”, Kilgallen and husband Barry McGee (who’s mural at the OMCA we covered back in HF Vol. 16) helped propel the San Francisco art scene back into the national spotlight in the ’90s with their blend of folk, graffiti and outsider arts. ‘Summer / Selections’ is the first solo exhibition of the artist’s works to take place in San Francisco in over 13 years (with much of the work being previously unseen and coming directly from the artist’s estate) and is on view at the gallery until August 5th.
