We first came across portrait artist Mary Jane Ansell’s stunning work in the New Masters exhibition (covered here) at Subliminal Projects, and have been captivated ever since.The delicate poise and unexpected historical adornments of her youthful subjects creates an environment of playful stillness. Many of the facial expressions of her pale skinned subjects reflect a calm reverie, proving that while her neo-realistic technique invokes the past, it is firmly rooted in the psychological landscapes of the modern world.
