Akira Beard and James Charles’ American Inconomics

Last Saturday night saw the opening of "American Iconomics", a two person show featuring Akira Beard and James Charles at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. A contemporary take on pop culture portraiture, Akira's signature watercolors and Charles' customized currency provide two wholly stylistically separate, yet so wonderfully conducive, styles. The end result is a captivating show of minutia where the gamut ranges from Nietzsche to Warhol, Nina Simone to R. Crumb. Highly recommended.
