Olly Moss’ “Paper Cuts”

by Emily BroughPosted on

UK artist Olly Moss opened “Paper Cuts”, his first solo show at Gallery 1988: Melrose this month. From Agent Dale Cooper to Ferris Bueller and the Muppets to Ratatouille, Moss created an installation of 300 laser cut silhouette portraits referencing a comprehensive array of influential entertainment icons from the last 30 years. His choice of titles, placement and unique techniques indicate that pop culture has had a strong influence on this young artist.Visiting the show is an experience unto itself, as the viewer ponders the source of each dark silhouette, reminiscing the subjects’ influence on their own life. If you’re in LA, carve out some time to see this spectacular presentation in person before it comes down on Friday May 20th. – Emily Brough
