“Blurring the Lines” CRASH, FREEDOM, and RISK

On Saturday, April 30th, Corey Helford Gallery reunited legendary graffiti mastersCRASH, FREEDOM, and RISK with “Blurring the Lines”, curated by Roger Gastman.It is their first time exhibiting together in decades and fresh off the MoCA’s “ArtIn the Streets”, also co-curated by Gastman. “This is our first gallery exhibitiontogether since 1987, which is exciting,” FREEDOM noted. He reflected on earlieryears in 1980’s New York City, citing other visionaries like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat as both colleagues and inspiration. Upstairs, RISK took over withnew drawings and paintings on vintage license plates, complimenting his businstallation outside the Geffen. The night also marked the release of limited editionprints and one of a kind, customized denim jackets with street icons like OBEYGiant. “Blurring the Lines” continues the conversation about graffiti’s place in theart gallery world with a rare showcase by three of its originators. We are saddened to hear of the passing of master pop artist Keiichi Tanaami. His work was equally fueled by the horrific atomic blast he witnessed in World War II and the bright and ugliness of pop culture Tanaami’s art is both beautiful and horrifying.
