Behind the Scenes with Kevin Cyr

The last time we saw Kevin Cyr (HF Vol. 10), he was participating in Hi-Fructose's Lainya Magaña-curated 'Temporal Surfaces' show at White Walls (seen here.) Since then, the artist has expanded his growing repertoire of hand made and custom built campers, bomb shelters and shanties. While in 'Temporal Surfaces', Cyr explored the fleeting marks of graffiti on box vans, 'Home in the Weeds' is an altogether different departure, a study in urban survivalism and Cold-War panic. The artist's iconic paintings of vehicles have been replaced with still life studies of vintage found objects, all of which can be found hidden throughout the many installations. 'Home in the Weeds' opens later this evening at 941 Geary in San Francisco, get an exclusive behind the scenes look from yesterday's setup, here on Hi-Fructose.
