Detroit’s hometown heroes, namely artist Glenn Barr and gallery/boutique 323 East have put together a well realized concept show, “Lyric”, now on view. Asking a formidable roster of artists, folks such as Jeff Soto (HF Vol. 16 cover artist), Gary Taxali, Camilla D’Errico, Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters, to interpret and in a sense, transcribe lyrics to songs onto canvas. One of favorite aspects of the show is how few artists chose to go literal with their renditions, allowing for the works to speak for themselves, even without a direct song association.
