Yumiko Kayukawa has returned to the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco for her latest undertaking, “Rock You in a Tatami Room.” For her new body of work, Kayukawa further expands on her fusion of American and Japanese cultures and the influences of Rock and Roll on her more traditional Japanese upbringing. Elements of manga, kawaii and Shinto animism litter the delicate and fragile environs where her female subjects feast, love and most importantly, rock.
