UK-born artist Ian Francis will be presenting his debut New York solo, ‘Fireland’, March 3rd at Joshua Liner Gallery (whom he last showed with at Scope Miami, here). Francis’ unique blend of abstraction, landscapes, eroticism, and alienation has lead to a stunning new body of mixed media work. Utilizing oil and acrylic paints, ink, pen, charcoal and graphite the large canvas pieces seem to be more chaotic and natural, yet simultaneously more lonely and bleak than the artists last body of work, ‘Exodus’. A dozen charcoal and ink pieces will accompany the shows twelve larger mixed media canvases, get an extensive preview of the new work below.
