NY painter Will Cotton opens a new show of his dreamy confectionary paintings on January 14th at Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles. Known for his decadent, frosty paintings of dream-like gingerbread houses as well as nymph-like girls reclining on lush cotton candy clouds, Cotton’s new show focuses mainly on portraiture, with paintings of girls in candy wrapper dresses and sugary crowns. Cotton recently art directed pop star Katy Perry’s video for “California Gurls” as well as providing the cover artwork for her most recent album, which features the singer in a classic sugary angel pose, reclining in a cloud of pink fluffy cotton candy.
