Collage as a medium was first documented as early as 200 B.C, althoughthere is some debate and when it was ushered into the modern world. Most arthistorians believe Cubist painters Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso coined itduring the Modern art period during the early 1900’s. Since then it hasremained a popular medium throughout various art movements as a means ofreassembling found images and objects into new compositions. It is the mediumof choice in ‘Cutlass’ a group show at Parlor Gallery showcasing a talentedgroup of artists working in collage today.
