Following 2009’s ‘As Cold As They Come’ and 2008’s ‘Phantasmagoria’ shows at Jonathan LeVine and Otis College of Art and Design, respectively, Mark Dean Veca returned to Los Angeles last week for ‘When Shit Hits the Fan’, his latest solo showing at Western Project. A biting commentary on the failing economy and endless war told through the monochromatic and intestinal depictions of popular culture, Veca’s large scale works never cease to impress.
