Painting Brazil’s Favelas

Dutch duo Haas and Hahn (Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn) recently completed another large scale mural project in Brazil. Entitled "O Morro", which roughly translates to "the hill" (a synonym for the local slums and favelas), the third in the Favela Painting project looks to have been a success with thirty four houses (seven thousand square meters) painted in a multi-colored and candy-striped rainbow pattern. The design, inherently simple, allows the duo the possibility of expanding the colors onto the neighboring buildings in Rio, a fund raising mission for which the two artists are currently embarked upon. View some additional pictures as well as a look at the pair's two earlier works after the jump.
