Recently shown at Gallery Speak For in Shibuya, Tokya was “Tenki” an exhibit of reconstructed sneakers by artist Mita Shiniti. Using stark white Nike Dunk hi-tops, Shiniti has removed the rubber sole allowing the shoes to be used as flexible and formed pieces of leather, opening up unlimited possibilities for re-stitching them back together in unusual ways.
