Mari Inukai celebrates Decadence

Well, perhaps that's a bit unfair for us to say, Mari Inukai celebrates a type of decadence that is universal, both positive and negative. We're not talking about the venial sins here, we're talking about the beauty and the heartbreak, the celebration of childhood and remorse when it's lost. Mari puts it best when she says that her upcoming show is a look "between the choices I've made and where life has put me." Straddling between themes of innocence and sexuality, cartoony figures and beautifully painted figurative oils on canvas, Mari exposes a side of herself that might just give the viewer an intimate insight into the artist, a decadent experience in and of itself. The show opens alongside Luke Cheuh's "Beginnings/Endings (and other worthless epiphanies)" at Copro Nason this Saturday May 8th. More preview pictures here.
