Way Way South, a show of new works by Nathan Ota will be opening Ocotober 3rd at La Luz de Jesus gallery in Los Angeles. The new work is imbibed with his familiar sense of humor and wonder however this time, he’s taken a darker tone with spaces rendered in deep shadows and figures slightly more somber. Show runs through October 31st.
Also premiering at the opening is the prototype of his new vinyl figure, “Candy Colored Clown” based on a painting he did for Gallery 1988’s Crazy4Cult show last year which illustrates his take on Don Cabbalero’s memorable scene in Blue Velvet.
