After watching his wife face her battle with cancer, Robbie Lowery felt compelled to do something for patients and families affected by the disease. He is curating the upcoming “Unpredictable Gravity” at Roq La Rue in Seattle, a group show with a line-up of heavy-hitting artists eager to contribute to a charitable cause. A portion of both the gallery’s and the artists’ commissions will be donated to a variety of cancer charities. Among the participants are Josh Keyes, Esao Andrews, Peter Ferguson, Jeremy Geddes, Joao Ruas, AJ Fosik, Camilla d’Errico and Brett Amory. “The title of the show, Unpredictable Gravity, was derived from the roller coaster of emotion that a family goes through after receiving a cancer diagnosis,” wrote Lowery in the show statement. “One minute you’re on top of the world and then it all comes crashing down. There are many ups and downs in the weeks, months, and years that follow, most of which are unpredictable. The path those tracks take aren’t always clear, but hopefully there are more ups as life careens forth.” “Unpredictable Gravity” opens this Thursday, January 9, and will be on view through March 1.
