RS Connett’s Psychedelic Paintings of Sea Creatures

RS Connett forayed into the art world through an unusual path. In 1995, the artist woke up to find his home of 20 years engulfed in flames and everything, including his art collection, rapidly burning to the ground. Several years later, Connett knew a change was in order and relocated from San Francisco to LA at the age of 52 to pursue art full time. A San Francisco native, Connett came of age during the Summer of Love. The psychedelic influence of the 1960s is visible in his work, but his paintings of deep sea creatures contain dark and sometimes morbid elements despite their vibrant color palettes.
