Photographer Hugh Kretschmer’s work moves fluidly through the boundaries between artistic and commercial. While much of his photo illustrations are produced for advertising or editorial content in business and science magazines, they stand alone as artworks and have been exhibited in galleries. Kretschmer’s work celebrates the imagination. While in some of his pieces, real and surreal elements are seamlessly edited together, many others look intentionally artificial like early movie set designs.
