Mixing abstract and figurative styles seems to be something we see often lately. However, the street artist and painter known as Askew One has a way of mixing the two that is his own. The artist employs several tools for his painted works such acrylic, enamel, tempera, spray paint, and vinyl paint all on a Plexiglas square. Askew One seems to carefully render the highlights of a portrait, the reflection from hair and the bright spots of a face, into a very realistic likeness. However, other aspects of the painting are far more abstract and reflect influences ranging from the expressionistic style of Basquiat to pop-art and, of course, street art.
