Melting Disco Balls by Rotganzen

by Danny OldaPosted on

The collective known as Rotganzen is made up of the three artists Robin Stam, Joeri Horstink, and Mark van Wijk.  The group has a penchant for installations that don’t shy away from a bit of humor.  Their Quelle Fête series of sculptures illustrates this well.  Disco balls litter a gallery space apparently at different stages of melting or deflating.  Like much of their work,  Quelle Fête contrasts emotions by using contrasting images and objects.  Whereas disco balls typically signify it’s party time – it’s time for everyone’s mood to lighten – the state of these disco balls would suggest otherwise.  The party is obviously over.
