Linsey Levendall employs a variety of styles — from illustration to loose, expressionistic painting to Cubist-inspired, fragmented compositions. But his different approaches somehow make up a cohesive body of work despite their disparate influences. Levendall’s drawings and paintings, which we recently encountered in the “Neu Folk Revival” group show at LeQuiVive Gallery, are dominated by figures that explode with a kaleidoscopic barrage of colors and shapes. Endearingly grotesque, the shapeshifting characters morph into objects within objects that seem to make up infinite microcosms within the works. Take a look below.
