Though his compositions use nebulous forms and placid color palettes, aggression is at the core of Joram Roukes’s work. The Dutch artist paints collage-like images that mix pop culture and nature references. The sports uniforms, claws and horns correlate to show how competition is enacted in the natural world and in human civilization. Roukes currently has a solo show, “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness,” on view through November 8 at Gallery B15 in Copenhagen. Contributing photographer Henrik Haven brought us some shots from the show.
