Opening Night: Steve Budington’s “Lines of Vision Re-Drawn”

An associate art professor at the University of Vermont, Steve Budington has the privilege of being exposed to academic discourse in his day-to-day. The artist's avid interest in neuroscience is a frequent theme in his paintings. Budington works on a large scale, rendering biomorphic forms with large, expressive brushstrokes. The abstract, organ-like shapes emphasize the role of the senses — especially the vision — in understanding the world around us. Budington's solo show, "Lines of Vision Re-Drawn" opened at San Francisco's Mirus Gallery on September 7 and features large-scale paintings and a series of small-scale drawings. Take a look at our exclusive opening night photos after the jump.
