Based in Barcelona, Spanish artist Guim Tió Zarraluki experiments with the communicative power of the eyes. His figures stare blankly into space with their doll-like, button-shaped pupils, confusing the viewer’s emotional compass. These figures are like automata from a 19th-century sci-fi novel, playing with the boundary between the human and the artificial.
