This Saturday, Culver City’s Thinkspace will debut their show, “Endless Vacation,” featuring two painters who use their penchant for hyperrealism in radically different ways: Jeff Ramirez and Dan Lydersen. Subverting Americana, Lydersen paints surreal scenes where the safety and normality of suburbia is warped through his skewed vision. Meanwhile, Ramirez proliferates his own take on photorealism: party photo-realism. His paintings evoke snapshots on a disposable camera from a wild house party, but their simple compositions with isolated subjects allow for a multitude of interpretations. “Endless Vacation” will be on view August 10 through August 31.
