Tonight, Joshua Liner Gallery in New York City will debut a new solo show from British artist Ian Francis. Titled “Season 1 Episode 0,” the exhibition will feature new, cinematic paintings that explore our relationship to television shows. Instead of taking a literal approach, Francis presents a blurry, Richter-esque series that visualizes the construction of a fictional world through hollow outlines and unfinished interiors that reflect upon the illusory nature of TV and cinema. Interested in the psychology of television viewers, Francis explores the ways TV shows’ imitation of real life informs our lived experiences. Take a look at some of the works in the show below and check out “Season 1 Episode 0″ April 25 – May 25.
