Washington-based painter and public artist Mary Iverson (Hi-Fructose Vol. 21) has a solo show coming up at San Francisco’s Shooting Gallery titled “Tangle.” Known for her abstracted landscapes, Iverson fuses collage and painting techniques in her work. With the idea of humans’ conquest of nature in mind, Iverson creates a tense relationship between sweeping, bird’s-eye-view landscapes and systematic grids composed of shipping containers. For “Tangle,” Iverson goes even more abstract with her style and will debut a mural-scale eight-by-14-foot canvas.
