Jim Houser
This Saturday, April 6, New York City’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery will debut two solo shows, Jim Houser‘s “Search Party” (Houser is featured in Hi-Fructose Vol. 17) and Josh Agle (Shag)‘s “Thursday’s Girl.” Featuring eight new works and a site-specific installation, Houser’s “Search Party” is made up of images within images — layers of painted wood panels and found objects that connect in narratives that reflect upon the artist’s past.
Meanwhile. Shag’s “Thursday’s Girl” — inspired by the Velvet Underground song “All Tomorrow’s Parties” — presents social observations through the artist’s clean painting style. Shag elaborates a story embroiled in social status and art-scene trends, telling the tale a of a small-town girl caught up in big-city glamor only to discover its impermanence. Take a look at our sneak peek of both shows below, images courtesy of Jonathan LeVine Gallery.
